Rusty Tweed has been involved in real estate transactions for the whole of his adult life, having purchased his first rental property in his native Toronto, Canada, when he was 22 years old. He was able to acquire his second Toronto rental property a few years later. Rusty eventually relocated to Los Angeles in 1987, utilizing his passive income streams. Rusty began finding and flipping foreclosures shortly after relocating to Southern California and had completed well over 30 real estate flips prior to the early 1990s real estate meltdown.
Rusty first learned about 1031 tax-deferred exchanges in 2004. Rusty was then employed by Del Exeter, a Monrovia, California-based CPA. Del introduced Rusty to his son Bill Exeter, who had previously served as the Exchange Division Head at Chicago Title Company. He rapidly caught on thanks to Bill’s skill, who masterfully guided Rusty through his 1031 Exchange deals.
Since then, Rusty has facilitated well over 100 property transactions for his clients. Rusty has successfully completed over $500 million in 1031 exchanges. Rusty’s primary focus in his firm is aiding clients throughout the 1031 procedure.
He and his organization are pioneers in locating replacement property to compensate for the enormously valued sales results. He has been involved in the transaction of multi-family, retail, NNN leases, commercial buildings, oil and gas leases, and raw land, among other types of investment property.
